In the past years, I have been passionate about doing my part to protect people, but also the environment. A large part of this is getting proper education out to the public as well as medical volunteers or professionals on best practices and research regarding envenomation or unfortunate encounters with wildlife when our worlds collide. I serve as primary investigator and physician consultant for the wold famous Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Venom One Response Unit, which is the largest antivenom bank. I am the medical director and co-founder of Lake County Fire Rescue's Venom Two Venom Response Unit as well on top of being a founding member of the Asclepius Snakebite Foundation, a board member of the Reptile Preservation Institute, and consultant to a number of organizations, zoos, and more. I have a number of publishings of research as well as textbook chapters, and also proudly host wilderness medicine and toxicology fellows to expand their education and provide real-world experience to learn how to best treat envenomations. This has further led to being a physician consultant for a variety of news stories, EMS agencies, the Wilderness Medical Society, and TV production.
